The Kaloud Aeras Bronze Lace is a combined charcoal holder and ash tray, so lit coals and spent ones both have somewhere to sit. The pierced bronze lace pattern lets air move around resting charcoal instead of smothering it.
Two problems solved by one object. Lit coals waiting to go on the bowl need airflow or they die. Spent coals need somewhere heatproof to land. Most people improvise both with a saucer.
