Description
The Kaloud Vestara Argis tongs are long-reach charcoal tongs with a three-scallop jaw, finished in silver. The scalloped jaws give several contact points around a coal instead of two, so it does not roll or drop when you turn it.
Argis is bare polished metal with a pale handle. The plainest of the four and the one that matches everything.
Long reach keeps your hand away from the heat and keeps the working end visible while you place or turn charcoal. That sounds minor until you have knocked a lit coal onto a rug.
Why the jaw shape matters
Flat-jaw tongs grip a coconut cube at two points, which is why coals rotate and fall. The Vestara jaw uses three broad inward scallops at each end, so the coal seats into the curve and stays put while you move it.
It matters most when you are rotating coals mid-session over a full bowl.
