Description
The Kaloud Lotus III is an aluminum heat management device that sits on your hookah bowl and controls how much heat reaches the shisha. It replaces foil. Load the coals, set the lid, and it regulates the burn for you.
Third generation. The change you notice first is the handles. Both the lid and the base have built-in rotating handles, so you adjust heat or lift the device off a hot bowl without tongs.
Three heat settings
- Lid off. Lowest heat. While the bowl comes up, or to pull back a bowl that has gone hot.
- Lid on, vents open. Medium. Where most of the session lives.
- Lid on, vents closed. Maximum. Dense-cut tobacco, bigger bowls, the back half of a long session.
You change setting by rotating the lid handle. That is the whole adjustment.
Why heat management works
Shisha does not burn, it vaporizes. Glycerin and flavor compounds release cleanly between roughly 130°C and 220°C (266°F to 428°F). Push past that and the tobacco enters pyrolysis, which is where harshness and the burnt-throat finish come from.
Foil gives you almost no control. Coals sit directly against it, heat spikes, and the good part of the session lasts minutes. The Lotus III holds coals off the shisha and moves heat by convection and radiation instead of direct contact, so the vaporization window stays open far longer.

What it fits
Dimensioned around Kaloud’s Samsaris bowls and drops onto most standard phunnel and Egyptian bowls in the same size class. For the pairing Kaloud designed together, run it on the Samsaris Vitria III.
Long sessions or group rotations? Look at the Lotus I+3, which takes a bigger coal load on a stainless steel base.
Aluminum or stainless steel
Aluminum heats faster and weighs less, so it responds quickly when you change the vents. Stainless holds heat longer and is more forgiving if you walk away from the bowl. Most people running one-hour sessions at home are better served by aluminum.
All seven colorways are the same device with the same geometry and the same performance. The finish uses Kaloud’s own non-toxic coloring process, not anodizing and not powder coating.
Care and handling
Never preheat the Lotus III on a burner. Bring coals up separately, then transfer them in. Direct flame damages the device and voids the warranty.
Let it cool fully before cleaning. Wipe the interior with a dry cloth or soft brush. No abrasive pads, no harsh solvents, especially on colored finishes.

Do I still need foil?
No. The Lotus III replaces foil completely. Pack the bowl, set the Lotus on top, add lit coals.
What is new versus the Lotus II?
Built-in rotating handles on lid and base. You adjust heat and lift the device off a hot bowl without tongs. The heat control principle is the same.
Can I preheat it on the stove?
No. Heat coals separately and transfer them. Direct flame damages the aluminum and voids the warranty.
Does the color change performance?
