Kaloud Lotus I+
Description
The Kaloud Lotus I+ is an aluminum heat management device that sits on top of your hookah bowl and controls how much heat reaches the shisha. It replaces foil. Load two large coconut coals inside, set the lid, and the Lotus regulates the burn for you.
This is the original. Kaloud introduced the Lotus in 2014 and it created the category. Everything since has been a copy of it.
Three heat settings
- Lid off. Lowest heat. While the bowl comes up, or to pull back a bowl that has gone hot.
- Lid on, vents open. Medium. Where most of the session lives.
- Lid on, vents closed. Maximum. Dense-cut tobacco, larger bowls, the back half of a long session.
You change setting by rotating the lid. No lifting coals, no tongs, no guesswork.
Why heat management works
Shisha does not burn, it vaporizes. Glycerin and flavor compounds release cleanly between roughly 130°C and 220°C (266°F to 428°F). Push past that and the tobacco enters pyrolysis, which is where harshness, scorched notes and the burnt-throat finish come from.
Foil gives you no control over that window. Coals sit directly against it, heat spikes, and the sweet spot lasts a few minutes. The Lotus I+ holds coals off the shisha and moves heat by convection and radiation instead of direct contact, so the vaporization window stays open for the length of the session.

What it fits
Built for standard phunnel and Egyptian-style bowls around 7 cm across. It pairs natively with the Samsaris High-Heat bowls for Lotus I and I+ and the Samsaris Lapis ceramic, both dimensioned around it.
Lotus I+ or Lotus I+3
Take the I+ if you run standard bowls and one-hour sessions. Take the Lotus I+3 if you run big bowls, long rotations or group sessions. The I+3 holds four large cubes instead of two, uses a stainless steel base, and stretches to roughly 90 minutes.
If you want the newest generation with rotating handles on lid and base, look at the Lotus III.
Care and handling
Never preheat your Lotus I+. Bring the coals up separately on a burner, then transfer them in. Preheating the device damages it and voids the warranty.
Let it cool fully before cleaning. Wipe the interior with a dry cloth or a soft brush. The colored finishes are not anodized or powder-coated, so avoid abrasive pads and harsh solvents.
Frequently asked questions
Do I still need foil?
No. The Lotus I+ replaces foil entirely. Pack the bowl, set the Lotus on top, add lit coals.
How many coals does it take?
Two large coconut cubes with the lid on. Three smaller cubes also work. Do not overfill.
Can I preheat it on the burner?
No. Heat the coals separately and transfer them. Direct flame damages the aluminum and voids the warranty.
How long does a session last?
Roughly 60 minutes with two coals, depending on cut, pack density and airflow.
What is the difference between the I+ and the I+3?
The I+3 holds four large cubes instead of two, has a stainless steel base, and runs about 90 minutes versus 60.
Does the color affect performance?
No. All colorways are the same aluminum device with the same geometry.
Is it covered by a warranty?
Limited Lifetime Warranty plus a 14-day money-back guarantee. Coverage does not extend to counterfeits.
